Shine a Light on Island History at Tybee Lighthouse
Literally a beacon of the good times that await during your next Savannah beach vacation, this historic light station is an iconic sight on the Georgia coast. With almost 280 years of history, Tybee Island Lighthouse has been rebuilt 4 times since 1736, ultimately receiving a new upper section after being damaged during the Civil War. Visitors today are welcome to climb to the top of its 178 winding stairs, and behold the impressive 9-foot fresnel lens.
