FAQs

  • When was the Tybee Island Fishing Pier & Pavilion built?

The original structure, Tybrisa Pier & Pavilion, was built in 1891 by the Central of Georgia Railroad. In 1967, it was tragically destroyed by a fire. It wasn't until 1996 that the citywide meeting point that stands today was opened to the public.
  • Can you throw a private party or event at the pier?

Absolutely! Simply call the Chatham County Recreation Department at 912-652-6780 to inquire about renting the space for weddings, reunions, or any other event you're planning.
