Swashbuckling Family Fun at Tybee Island Pirate Fest
Good times run as thick as the grog during this Columbus Day weekend pirate party in Savannah's beach vacation destination. Marauders of all ages from across the globe descend upon the pirate festival Tybee Island first made famous in 2005. Since then, annual crowds of pillagers have grown into the thousands, dressed in their pirate's best throughout downtown, ready to party the weekend away! Gut-busting feasts, live music from headlining performers, puppeteers, magicians, historic weapons demonstrations, a treasure-filled market, and a lively parade are just a few things you'll find at Tybee Island Pirate Fest 2015. Here are a few of the hottest highlights:
Hosted at the Crab Shack, this wild soirée kicks things off with a feast of pirate proportions, tons of drinks, live entertainment, dancing, and a costume contest. You won't want to miss it!
If you don't have a favorite pirate costume, you can find one here, along with all sorts of treasures from across the globe, such as arts, crafts, and a vast array of seafaring paraphernalia.
Pirate Victory Parade
The rowdy heart of the party is Saturday's parade to the beach down Butler Street. Spectators and participants are welcome, with prizes awarded to the most creative swashbucklers.
Little Matey's Cove
Young plunderers love this fun-filled play area, complete with a fully rigged replica pirate ship, nautical lessons, a bounce house, petting zoo, and Ferris wheel to take it all in.
